인턴연구원(URP) 활동 ?
방학동안 Winter school을 시작으로 Intern workshop, study를 통해 CSE의 기초를 배울 수 있습니다. 이후 본인이 원하는 계산과학공학과 전공 분야(전산유체역학,수치해석,의료영상) 교수님의 지도 아래 연구를 진행하게 됩니다. 일주일에 한번 진행하는 팀 세미나에 대학원 선배들과 참여하는 기회도 주어지며 Open lab - Poster exhibition에 참여하여 연구 결과를 발표할 수 있습니다.
What is Computational Science & Engineering?
Computational science and engineering (CSE) is a computer-oriented multidisciplinary area that fuses the knowledge and techniques of the science and engineering fields with computational and applied mathematics to embody the entire process of solving such problems as those mentioned above. CSE focuses on the development of problem-solving methodologies and robust tools for the solution of scientific and engineering problems.
Mathematical techniques in science and engineering have evolved markedly, extending our ability to understand various physical phenomena of interest and their characteristics in detail. Today, many significant basic and applied research questions are interdisciplinary in nature, involving mathematics, physics, engineering, and biomedical science. A wide variety of natural phenomena that occur in real-life applications, from fluid flows to the biological and medical imaging fields, are described by means of partial differential equations.
Developing mathematical models with practical significance and value requires the fusing of the knowledge and techniques of traditional engineering fields with pure and applied mathematics. Finding solutions with practical significance and value requires an in-depth understanding of the underlying physical phenomena with data acquisition systems as well as the implementation details of algorithms. Experiences over the past three decades have shown that symbiotic interplay among theoretical mathematics, computational mathematics, and experiments is crucial to understand and solve these real-world model problems. Computational mathematics is an approach that is used to gain insight and understanding mainly through analysis of mathematical models conducted on computers. The problem-solving process in computational mathematics includes algorithm development, analysis, software implementation, program execution, visualization, and validation.
What is Computational Science & Engineering Interns?
The internship offered by Yonsei University's Computational Science and Engineering department has a very long history since it started from 2009. First of all this internship had been offered for students who are interested in research on this department. Later than, approximately 50 undergraduate students who was attended on Yonsei University, Ewha University, Korean Aerospace University, and University of California at Los Angeles, had study and research as the department's intern.
